about

Announcing our latest signing and brand new EP release from the hotly-tipped and widely-lauded Brazilian producer Dunk. Previously turning heads with releases on CIA and ProgRam amongst a myriad of other reputable labels, while also getting repeat plays and rewinds from discerning Drum & Bass DJs all over the planet in his Jam Thieves alias, we hope Dunk will feel as welcome and as at home on inHabit as many Brazilians feel welcome and at home here in Dublin.

Regular listeners will clock pretty swiftly that they're looking at four expertly built, weapons-grade bangers. Every last one of these is explosive material, with an immediacy that commands attention and focused movement, and enough craft in the subtle layering of percussive elements to keep even the most jaded chinstrokers in your crew glued to the floor by the bassbins.

'Hammer' bangs, knocks and nails it like its titular namesake, dropping almost intstantly into a wonky minimal groove that serves as an adamantium exoskeleton for a succession of increasingly putrid growls and moans.

'Polarize' drops the intensity for a bubbling subby stepper with a spacious atmophere, some urgent percussion and some plaintive squeals of distorted computer anguish that few other producers in the game these days can even approach in this subtle a manner.

'Stranger Fiction' kicks off as a straight minimal stepper but quicky fills out with all kinds of quirky offbeat percussive fills, bleeps and squawks, even as a wildly modulated bass pattern calls and responds to itself, gluing the whole thing together into an impossibly focused, furrowed-browed beast.

Title track and EP finale 'Vibration' hits you from a different angle again, with a steppy break slapping the wall as intricate fills and breaks cut in and out over a subby detuned groove, with the kind of tonality to it that screams turn-of-the-century-Bristol but with enough cutting-edge sonics to ensure it stays in your bag for the decades ahead.

All in all I think you will agree that this is pretty fucking spectacular stuff here, let's be honest. All four tunes have been polished to perfection by Height as well so you know these basslines are going to hit you in your chest in a few months when we've all had them jabs and slabs and dabs and we're warming sound systems of all shapes and sizes to carry on where we left off. Hold that thought. It's coming.
