about

inHabit here, touching down and pleased to report that after a string of hard-edged angular armour-plated bombs we're back with something a little deeper in the form of another installment of our semi-regular Texture series. Those of you who've been following us a while know that whenever we find the right material we like to make space for the deeper, more musical moments to shine through, and that's what this collection here is all about. We're coming at this series from a different angle again this time too, with a four track EP that centres the considerable talents of extraordinary vocalist Georgia Rose. Four of our favourite producers have built and arranged a tune each around
four full vocal performances, each bringing their own perspectives and crafting smooth rolling serenity that has enough bass to bump in the basements and still has more than enough beauty for your boo's boudoir too.

On to the tunes and label-regular Brainwork kicks off proceedings with a smoky, soulful, stepper's arrangement that wisely puts Georgia Rose's breathy, earthy but ethereal vocals out front and centre.

Subdue sets a darker tone with Allure, with a long and subtle intro that gives the vocals the space to creep in and stand out over any mix, before dropping into a warm, bleepy, plangent melancholia that's a gorgeous contrast with the lyrics. Making an appearance on inHabit again after his debut release with us in our first year, fresh off the back of an extremely impressive Metalheadz release Rizzle shows off a different side to his productions with EP title track Circles, with strings, melody and bass all doing their thing, using cleverly edited and tweaked vocal cuts and edits texturally to foreshadow a “We're just going around in circles, circles....” lyric that floats in waifishly over a track so catchy you should wear a mask before you listen. Winding up the quartet, Thread ties it all together with an expansive, spacious atmosphere that zooms out to almost trance-like levels of immensity, anchoring it all to the floor with a guttural organic bassline, and a close-to-the-mic intensity in the vocal processing that lets Georgia Rose really come into full command and focus.

So there you have it. There's more than one way to be a bedroom DJ you know? And it's the time of year for it too so go forth and do what you gotta do, safe in the knowledge that Height has mastered these things to absolutely slap on whatever rig you play them on. These four tunes will get you out of some tight spots, they'll lift you up, they'll rescue any floor that's flagging in the absence of feelings, you can dance to them with your eyes closed or open, we hope you enjoy them in the company of friends and friends you haven't made yet. Till the next time, peace and one love.
